Horseback Riding

Horseback Riding

Year after year one of our most popular activities is horseback riding.  Campers are given the opportunity to ride horses through the camp forest, accompanied by their counselor and the camp wranglers.  Campers are matched with a horse based on their previous riding experience and ability.  All campers (except those in Adventure Mini Camp) get to ride a horse with their cabin during the week (weather permitting).

  • Campers enrolled in our Summer Camp program that are looking for more time with horses should consider our Silver Spurs theme club, which gives an extra three hours of ride time.
  • Campers who are very interested in horses should consider our Ranch Camp program.  Ranch Camper's spend 1/2 their day every day with their horse, and will get the opportunity to spend time on special trails as well as the riding arena; a great place to practice technique!  In addition Ranch Camper's learn more about what goes into working with horses, such as grooming, saddling, and yes poop scooping!

Proper attire of long pants and close toed, close heeled shoes are required.  Campers in Silver Spurs are encouraged to have boots, and Ranch Campers are required to bring boots with at a heal.
