Meet Megan

Megan grew up in northeast Nebraska and her first camp experience was joining staff in 2011 as a wrangler while attending college. She then fell in love with camping as a career and has spent every summer at a camp since. Outside of camp Megan loves reading, singing, pyrography, cuddling her cat and hanging with her family.

Education and Work Experience

Megan graduated from Wayne State College with a degree in Mass Communication- Electronic Media, where she focused in radio and video production. After leaving Kitaki in 2016 she spent several summers working at Camp Fitch YMCA in Pennsylvania, then Triangle Y Camp through the Minot Family YMCA in North Dakota. In 2021 she returned to Kitaki full time as a Program Director and couldn’t be happier to be back home.

Family

Megan lives in Louisville with her feline, Freya. Freya is a long-haired grey tabby bobtail, and was adopted from a shelter in Pennsylvania in 2017. Megan has four siblings, three of whom have attended Kitaki as campers or staff. She also has a niece and two nephews she adores, and can’t wait to share Kitaki with them.

Why Kitaki?

Watching the personal growth of every participant is one of Megan’s favorite things about camp. Camp Kitaki is intentional about helping people become the best versions of themselves, and she loves having the opportunity to share that with others. Having worked at other YMCA overnight camps, she can confirm that there is something particularly magical about Camp Kitaki.
